Coriander/ Cilantro Chutney

Difficulty: Very Easy

Ingredients:

1 bunch Coriander/ cilantro leaves

2 tsp Coriander seeds

2 tsp Urad dhall

3-4 Red Chillies

1 small piece of Tamarind

4 inch Coconut (2 tbsp if grated)

1 tsp oil

¼ tsp salt

¼ cup water

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add urad dhall, coriander seeds, red chillies one by one giving each 20 seconds to fry.
  2. Add the tamarind and coconut, fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Clean the coriander leaves well, add them to the pan and cook for a minute or two until the leaves wilt.
  4. Grind everything together by adding salt and water to form a smooth.
  5. Serve with dosa, idly, etc..

Notes and Tips:

  1. You can skip the coriander seeds and make the same chutney.
  2. Small onions can be used for increasing the quantity and for a different taste.
  3. If you have a toddler or a fussy kid, grind the chutney decreasing the amount of chillies, mix it with dosa batter and make yummy dosas. Adults can enjoy this too..
