Ridgegourd Skin Chutney| Peerkangai Thol Thogayal

2 Ridgegourd (only Skin)

¼ cup whole Raw Peanut

4 dried Red Chilli

A small piece of Tamarind

¼ tsp Salt

1 tsp oil


  1. Peel the skin off the fresh ridge gourds.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add the peanuts, red chilli, tamarind and fry until the peanuts get roasted well.
  3. Add the ridge gourd skin, salt and cook for about 2-3 minutes until the skin starts to wilt.
  4. Blend everything together with little water to form a smooth paste.
  5. Tastes yum with millet rice, plain white rice, idly, dosa or roti.

  1. If you think the peanuts is overcooked, remove it from the flame and cook the skin separately and then blend everything together.
  2. You can add roasted peanuts instead of raw one.
  3. Do not remove the skin of peanuts. As I always say, skin is filled with fiber and nutrition in most food.
  4. Same recipe can be followed with the whole ridge gourd. If so, increase the peanuts and adjust the spice accordingly
