Spicy Onion Tomato Chutney

Difficulty: Very Easy

Ingredients:

2 Onion (Small sized)

2 Tomatoes (Medium)

1 tbsp Whole Black Urad dhall (lentil)

½ tsp salt

2 Red chilly

1 tsp Oil

Method:

  1. Roughly chop onion and tomatoes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, Add the urad dhal and fry for 30 seconds in slow flame or until nice aroma comes out of it.
  3. Add the red chilli and fry for 20 seconds.
  4. Add the Onions, fry for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the tomatoes, salt and cook over medium flame for about 7-8 minutes until the raw smell completely goes away.
  6. Blend them together without water in a mixie or blender.
  7. Tastes great with idly, dosa, bread omelet, etc…

Notes:

  1. Taste after blending them together, add more red chillies if you like it spicier.
  2. You can replace whole urad dhall with split whole urad dhall.
  3. 10-15 Shallots can be used instead of two onions.
